Equipment

  • 1 High-speed blender Essential for achieving smooth, thick texture
  • 1 Tamper or blender plunger To push frozen fruit down while blending
  • 2 Serving bowls For presenting the finished acai bowls
  • 1 Baking sheet For freezing fresh fruit slices

Ingredients

  • 1 whole Banana, sliced and frozen - Provides natural sweetness and creaminess
  • ½ cup Blueberries, frozen - Adds antioxidants and color depth
  • ½ cup Strawberries, frozen - For natural sweetness and vitamin C
  • ¾ cup Milk or juice - Use dairy milk, almond, soy, or apple/grape juice
  • ½ cup Plain yogurt - Adds protein and tangy flavor
  • 200 grams Frozen acai puree (2 packets) - The star ingredient, broken into pieces
  • As desired - Assorted toppings - Nuts, seeds, fresh fruit, granola, coconut

Instructions

  • Slice banana and transfer to parchment-lined baking sheet. Add blueberries and strawberries to same plate. Freeze completely for 2 to 3 hours until solid.
  • Add milk and yogurt to high-speed blender bowl. Having liquid at bottom helps blending process and prevents machine from getting stuck.
  • Add frozen blueberries, strawberries, banana, and broken acai puree pieces to blender. Break acai into smaller chunks for easier blending.
  • Start on low speed, using tamper to push frozen fruit toward blades. Blend until smooth and creamy, adding minimal liquid only if absolutely needed.
  • Mixture should be thick like soft-serve ice cream, not thin like smoothie. Add more frozen fruit if too thin, or tiny amounts of liquid if too thick to blend.
  • Divide mixture between two bowls immediately. Add toppings in sections for Instagram-worthy presentation. Work quickly since mixture melts at room temperature.

Notes

The secret to perfect acai bowls is achieving that thick, sorbet-like consistency. Use minimal liquid and lots of frozen fruit. The mixture should be thick enough to hold toppings without them sinking in. Work quickly when assembling since the mixture melts fast at room temperature.
