Equipment

  • 1 9×13 inch baking dish To bake the slider sandwiches
  • 1 Sharp knife To slice Hawaiian rolls horizontally
  • 1 Small mixing bowl To prepare butter glaze
  • 1 Medium mixing bowl To make grinder salad dressing
  • 1 Pastry brush To apply butter glaze evenly

Ingredients

  • 12 pieces hawaiian dinner rolls - fresh and soft
  • 8 ounces thinly sliced deli ham
  • 4 ounces provolone cheese - sliced
  • 3 ounces pepperoni - thinly sliced
  • 3 ounces salami - thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter - melted
  • 2 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder - for glaze
  • ¼ teaspoon fine salt - for glaze
  • 8 ounces shredded iceberg lettuce
  • ½ cup diced fresh tomatoes
  • ½ cup sliced pepperoncini peppers
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon salt - for salad
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder - for salad

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F and slice the hawaiian rolls horizontally, keeping them connected. Place the bottom halves in a 9x13 baking dish, creating the perfect base for your italian sandwich sliders.
  • Start with the provolone cheese directly on the bread, then layer the ham, pepperoni, and salami evenly across all rolls. This order ensures the cheese melts properly and holds everything together. Replace the top halves and cut between each roll.
  • Mix the melted butter, parmesan, garlic powder, and salt until smooth. Brush this mixture generously over the tops of your sliders. Bake for 15-20 minutes until the cheese melts and tops turn golden brown.
  • While your hot italian sub sliders bake, whisk together mayonnaise, red wine vinegar, italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Toss this dressing with the lettuce, tomatoes, and pepperoncini for that authentic grinder flavor.
  • Remove the slider tops, add a generous scoop of grinder salad to each, then replace the tops. Serve these italian sliders immediately while the cheese is still melted and gooey.

Notes

The secret to perfect Italian sliders lies in the meat layering and that butter glaze. Cheese goes directly on the bread first, creating a barrier that keeps everything from getting soggy. The grinder salad transforms these from regular sliders into something truly special, bringing those nostalgic Italian deli flavors that create lasting food memories with every single bite
