Equipment

  • 1 Large baking sheet To bake the pigs in a blanket
  • 1 Parchment paper To line baking sheet and prevent sticking
  • 1 Pizza wheel or knife To cut crescent dough into triangles
  • 1 Pastry brush To brush melted butter on tops

Ingredients

  • 2 cans (8 oz each) refrigerated crescent rolls - 8 count per can
  • 1 package (14 oz) cocktail sausages
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter - melted
  • 1 teaspoon flaked sea salt - optional for topping

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. This prevents sticking and makes cleanup a breeze.
  • Remove the crescent rolls from packaging and gently unroll them, keeping the perforated sheet intact. Press over the seams lightly to form one continuous sheet of dough.
  • Use a pizza wheel to slice the crescent sheet into four sections, then cut each section into 7 triangles. Don't worry about perfection, approximate triangles work just fine.
  • Place one cocktail sausage aligned with the wide end of each triangle. Roll up the sausage tightly to form a small crescent roll surrounding the sausage. Arrange on the baking sheet with space between each one.
  • Brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle with flaked salt if desired. This creates that beautiful golden color and adds incredible flavor.
  • Bake for 15 minutes until puffed and golden brown. Serve immediately while hot with your favorite dipping sauces like ketchup, mustard, or honey mustard.

Notes

The secret to perfect pigs in a blanket lies in handling the crescent dough gently and not overstretching it. Let crescent rolls come to room temperature before unrolling to prevent tearing, and don't skip the butter brush for that gorgeous golden color. These nostalgic comfort food bites create lasting memories with every golden, buttery bite that brings families together around the table.
