  • 8 ounces San Giorgio Lasagna Cooked according to package directions
  • 1 pound ground beef Browned and drained
  • 2 cups pasta sauce Your favorite variety
  • 15 ounces ricotta cheese For the creamy filling
  • 4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese Divided use
  • 3 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese For the cheese blend
  • 1 large egg To bind the ricotta
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley Chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh basil Chopped
  • 2 tablespoons ground onion For seasoning the meat
  • 2 tablespoons ground garlic For seasoning the meat
  • 1 tablespoon beef broth seasoning Adds deep umami flavor
  • salt and ground pepper To taste

Method
 

  1. Cook the pasta according to the package directions, then drain and lay the sheets flat to cool.

  2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef until browned, then stir in the seasonings and pasta sauce.
  3. In a medium skillet or bowl, stir together the ricotta, one cup of mozzarella, parmesan, egg, salt, and pepper.
    Hands use a wooden spoon to stir a thick, white ricotta cheese mixture.
  4. Spread a half cup of meat sauce in a large baking dish, then layer three pasta pieces, half the ricotta mixture, and one cup of ground meat.
  5. Repeat the layers once more, then top with the remaining pasta, ground meat, and the rest of the mozzarella cheese.
  6. Cover with aluminum foil and bake at 375°F for 20-25 minutes, then remove the foil and bake 10 more minutes until bubbly.
